Week Ahead: Painter Rd. Closure, BBQ Bash, RTM Meeting, Shakespeare

What's going on this week in the greater Media area? Here's what we found but be sure to add anything we may have missed in the comments below.

• Painter Road will be closed, between Barren Road and Vineyard Lane, on Aug. 2. Tyler Arboretum will remain open. 
  
• Shakespeare in the Mall on July 29 at 6:30 p.m. inside the Center Court of Granite Run Mall. This comedy play is performed by just three cast members. 
• Middletown Library's BBQ Bash at 4:30 p.m. on July 29. Bring your favorite BBQ item to share and enter the contest for the best main dish and side dish. Grills will be available for cooking and everyone votes on the best. Space is limited, registration is required. 
• Rose Tree Media School Board special legislative meeting at 7:30 p.m. on July 30 at Springton Lake Middle School. The meeting will discuss personnel. 
• Media Borough Council workshop meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 1
• Media Theatre's The Vocalist (formerly Delco Idol) continues on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. through Aug. 7. FOX-TV's Sue Serio emcees once again in the popular singing contest. Tickets: $15. Call 610-891-0100.
• Area 1 Recycling Collection days in Middletown Township on July 31, Aug. 1 and 2
  
• The Upper Providence Highway Department is currently trimming any trees within the right-of-way that are less than 15-feet above the roadway and 9-feet above sidewalks. If you would prefer to do the trimming yourself please contact the Highway Department at 610-565-4944 ext. 107.
• Tours of Minshall House every Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. until Aug 26.

• Media Farmers Market on Thursday 
• Springfield Road in Springfield Township will be closed between Route 1 (State Road) and Old Marple Road on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through the end of August.
• American Red Cross Blood Drive on July 29, from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. at St. Denis Grimes Center, Brookline Fire Company, 1315 Darby Road in Havertown and on July 30, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Swarthmore College, 500 College Avenue in Swarthmore
