Woman Set Delco Home On Fire After Eviction: State Police

The woman, state police said, had been evicted but was still in the house when she started a fire with improperly disposed matches.

TRAINER BOROUGH, PA β€” A woman who was evicted from her Delaware County residence set the place on fire back in May, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Kristin Mae Dolores Bennett, 40, of Marcus Hook, is charged with risking catastrophe, criminal trespassing, criminal mischief, and recklessly endangering another person.

The charges stem from a May 20 incident at 4412 Post Road in Trainer Borough.

A Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshall at about 1:06 a.m. was called to help Trainer Borough Police on a residential house fire located at the address above.

Police said Bennett, was evicted from that address on May 6.

However, they said she was at the address on May 20.

She told authorities she was using matches in an attempt to light a cigarette and threw the matches on a mattress, which eventually caught fire, police said.

Two firefighters were injured and taken to a hospital with minor injuries, according to police.

Bennett is free on $100,000 unsecured bail, court records show.

She is scheduled for a Sept. 3 formal arraignment, according to court documents.
