Homicide in Braddock Borough

At roughly 2:15 am today the Braddock Police were dispatched to the area of Corey Avenue and Overland Street to investigate shots being heard in the area. At that time they did not find anything. At approximately 5:10 am a person on her way to work discovered a young man on the sidewalk of Overland Street.

The police and medics responded and the victim was pronounced dead at that time. Overland Street is closed to vehicle traffic and only open to pedestrians.

As of this time the victim is unidentified. He is described as a young black male probably in his mid to late teens. His left ear was pierced and held a square silver earing. The victim was shot multiple times. An autopsy will be performed today. Anyone who may have heard or saw anything in the area of Corey Ave. in Braddock early this morning is asked to call the Allegheny County Police Homicide unit at 412-473-1300. Callers can remain anonymous.

If we are not able to identify the victim we will work with the Medical Examiner’s office to release more information later today.
