Imperial Man Impersonates Brother During DUI Stop

Police said an Imperial man impersonated his brother when he was pulled over for suspicion of drunken driving.Â
A man identified as Michael Cogar was pulled over in April on Flaugherty Run Road and charged with drunken driving, Moon Police said. Cogar was found to be under the influence of a mix of prescription medications, police said in a report.Â
But on the date of his preliminary hearing, a different man showed up in Coraopolis District Court.Â

Police discovered the man arrested in April was actually 53-year-old Dallas Cecil Cogar, of Imperial—Michael Cogar's brother.Â
Police said Dallas Cogar provided false identification on the date of the arrest, telling them he was his brother Michael.

Michael Cogar said his brother Dallas has used his identification in the past to avoid criminal prosecution.
A warrant has been issued for Dallas Cogar’s arrest. He is charged with giving false identification to law enforcement, giving false reports to law enforcement, driving with a suspended license, identity theft and four counts of drunken driving.Â
Charges against Michael Cogar have been dropped.
Moon Police made the following recent arrests and responded to the following incidents. Each item is a reflection of police records and does not indicate guilt or a conviction.Â
- Police said tires on three vehicles were slashed on College Park Drive on the evening of Oct. 3.Â
- Brian William DiCicco, 41, of Moon Township, was charged Oct. 1 with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.Â
- Alan Micahel Hartwick, 21, of Moon, was charged Oct. 3 with simple assault, public drunkenness and furnishing alcohol to minors on the 400 block of Lunar Lane.Â
- Jennifer Ann Trosky, 19, of Moon Township, was charged Oct. 3 with simple assault and underage drinking on the 400 block of Lunar Lane.Â
