Moon Parks Department Unveils New Pavilion

The pavilion, which has seating for 100, marks the end of the first phase of Moon Park's revitalization.

The and  opened a new pavilion at Moon Park yesterday. 

The completion of the pavilion marks the end of the first phase of the park's revitalization, which also included a recently installed baseball field and tennis courts. 

Parks Director Dana Kasler said he expects the township  to decide in the coming months when to begin the next phase of the project, which could include a multipurpose athletic field or new restrooms.

Township supervisors and representatives from the credit union attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday. Jim Vitale, chairman of the Board of Supervisors, described the new shelter as being "both modern and rustic." 

Kasler said the 100-seat pavilion was designed with eco-friendly materials.

"We used all green products and really tried to use materials that were long-lasting," Kasler said. 

The township parks department is accepting summer reservations for the pavilion.
