2 Caught On South Main Smoking Cannabis In Parking Lot: New Hope Police

1:42 p.m. — Officers were dispatched to a Lakeview Drive for a report of an unwanted guest. The homeowner said she was renting a room to a man through Airbnb. He had been asked to leave and refused. The 57-year-old man from New York City said he was homeless. Police gave him a courtesy transport to obtain resources to assist him in finding other living arrangements.
11:27 p.m. — An officer on foot patrol on South Main Street saw a man staggering down the street. On further investigation, he determined the man was drunk enough to be unable to take care of himself. The man was cooperative and calm. Police took him to his Lambertville home.

Friday, April 1
1:42 p.m. — Someone reported several young people trespassing in train cars in the rear of the New Hope Ivyland Railroad property. On arrival, they had left the area. Police advised that anyone caught on the property is subject to arrest for trespassing.
6:05 p.m. — Someone from a North Main Street store reported that four young people had taken merchandise. One man was discovered to have a stolen item. The store owner asked that it be returned and parents be notified, which they were.
Friday, April 8
9:08 a.m. — An officer on patrol at a New Hope-Solebury school campus saw a Rottweiler running off-leash. The owner was nearby, and the officer told them about the school policy of no dogs on campus as well as the borough's policy that all dogs must be leashed.
10:45 p.m. — A South Main Street business reported a 50-year-old man took food without paying for it. The business owner identified the person from a credit card receipt for other items he paid for. Video shows the man pocketing the food without payment. An investigation is ongoing.
Saturday, April 9
10:20 p.m. — A South Main Street business reported a man in their parking lot acting suspiciously. The man seemed intoxicated and was walking around and between parked vehicles. An employee said they saw the man smoking suspected marijuana from a glass pipe. Officers arrived and identified a Lambertville man, who was taken into custody for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The arrest will proceed by summons.
Sunday, April 10
8:24 p.m. — An officer saw a car commit a code violation. Upon investigating the car and driver, the officer smelled marijuana. The driver admitted to smoking while driving and then failed field sobriety tests. The driver was taken to Doylestown Hospital for blood and urine analysis and any arrest will take place by summons.
Wednesday, April 13
8:25 p.m. — A 48-year-old Ambler man was in the rear lot of a South Main Street restaurant, where an officer saw him apparently smoking what the officer called a marijuana cigarette. When the officer questioned him he admitted it was a "joint," and surrendered two more during the investigation. The possession arrest will proceed by summons.
Friday, April 15
4:38 p.m. — An officer on foot heard a motorcycle with a bad exhaust. The officer stopped the motorcycle and tested it with a decibel meter. The noise level was louder than 96 decibels. The driver received a written warning for the offense.
Tuesday, April 19
10:55 a.m. — A New Hope store owner called to report a woman had been in his store and took a $20 necklace. The woman was identified at Main and Bridge Streets, where officers found her and she admitted her guilt. The 17-year-old Piscataway resident will be placed in the Youth Aid Panel, and her parents were told.
