NEW HOPE, PA — Nonprofit groups are keystone community organizations in the New Hope area. Fortunately, there is no shortage of organizations to volunteer or get behind financially, and that need your help.

Here are five outstanding nonprofit groups you should know about in the New Hope area:

1. New Hope Eagle Fire Company. The all-volunteer New Hope Eagle Fire Company provides fire protection, vehicle rescue, water/land search/rescue, and primary hazardous materials response to more than 10,000 residents living in a 12-square-mile area.

2. Central Bucks EMS. The nonprofit Central Bucks EMS provides 24-hour Advanced Life Support coverage to more than 150,000 people living in Central Bucks County. EMT's and paramedics also provide medical coverage for special events, including football games, fireworks, and festivals.

3. Fisherman's Mark Social Services. Fisherman’s Mark has been a part of the community for more than 40 years. It provide services that meet basic needs, such as food and affordable childcare. Its programs aim to break the cycle of crisis and promote self-sufficiency and wellness. The agency responds to the needs of vulnerable populations in the area, assisting with any crisis that presents: homelessness, domestic violence, job loss, insurance issues, financial or medical emergencies, substance abuse, and mental health issues.

4. The Bucks County SPCA. The BCSPCA assists animals in need and prevents suffering through rescues, re-homing, cruelty investigation and prosecution and community outreach. With the community’s support the BCSPCA, has grown and expanded, now operating two open-admission, no-time-limit shelters in Lahaska and Quakertown.

5. New Hope Historical Society. The mission of the New Hope Historical Society is to attain, preserve and interpret the diverse historical influence of New Hope and its realm of influence for the benefit of the public through its stewardship of historic buildings and collections, research,

publications, and educational programming.
