5 Super Athletes With Ties To New Hope-Lambertville
Patch has teamed up with T-Mobile to celebrate five standout athletes whose achievements have left a lasting impression on our community.

Sports have a way of teaching invaluable life lessons — building character, fostering teamwork and strengthening the bonds within a community. In the New Hope-Lambertville area, these values have shaped some truly remarkable athletes from different eras, whose accomplishments continue to inspire.
Patch has teamed up with T-Mobile to spotlight five standout athletes whose achievements have left a lasting mark on our community. While this list is just a snapshot, there are countless others who have helped shape the rich sports culture in our area.
1. Bryan Scott (Football)
Bryan Scott began his football journey at Central Bucks East High School, where he graduated in 1999. Excelling both academically and athletically, Scott went on to play at Penn State before embarking on a successful NFL career as an outside linebacker for the Buffalo Bills. Beyond football, Scott has also earned recognition for his community work. In 2012, he won the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award for his ARTventure program, offering students in Buffalo monthly field trips to explore art and music venues.

2. Amber Brooks (Soccer)
New Hope’s own Amber Brooks first made her mark in soccer as a standout at the University of North Carolina, where she won two National Championships and earned multiple All-American honors. Following her collegiate success, Brooks played professionally for clubs such as the Portland Thorns, Houston Dash and OL Reign, setting the NWSL record for most consecutive minutes played from 2016-2019. In 2024, Brooks signed with Dallas Trinity FC, bringing her leadership and experience to the team.
3. Kyle Tress (Skeleton)
Kyle Tress, a graduate of South Hunterdon Regional High School in 1999, is an accomplished skeleton racer from nearby Lambertville. Tress’s career highlights include competing in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, where he placed 21st in the individual men’s skeleton, as well as multiple notable finishes on the World Cup circuit. Beyond his athletic achievements, Tress is a self-taught web and iOS developer, with creative credits as an extra in TV and films like Transformers 2 and CSI: NY.

4. Steve Neumann (Soccer)
Hailing from New Hope, Steve Neumann made a name for himself as a soccer standout at Georgetown University. While with the Hoyas, he scored 41 goals and tallied 34 assists in 86 appearances, including a hat trick in the 2012 NCAA College Cup semifinals. Selected fourth overall in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft by the New England Revolution, Neumann contributed to the team during 32 regular-season appearances, with highlights including a goal and an assist in the U.S. Open Cup.
5. Madie Thistlewaite (Lacrosse)
Madie Thistlewaite, a New Hope native, is a standout defender at Bucknell University. At New Hope-Solebury High School, she set school records with 254 career goals and 204 single-season draw controls while captaining the team. Thistlewaite earned three-time All-League First Team honors in lacrosse and led her team to multiple district championships in field hockey. Her athleticism extends beyond lacrosse, as she also achieved All-League recognition in field hockey and contributed to her school’s success in the Suburban 1 League.
