DOYLESTOWN, PA — Local nonprofit Pine2Pink will launch its month-long fundraising and awareness program in support of breast cancer during an event Sunday, Sept. 29 at the Mercer Museum.

The public event will kick-off a series of events and initiatives throughout October in Doylestown, New Hope, and Peddler’s Village.

Pine2Pink is a local non-profit that helps breast cancer patients in treatment and recovery. "We inspire and empower a community to engage and raise money for people in the community battling breast cancer," the organization explains.

Pine2Pink was developed by local resident Keith Fenimore as a way to memorialize his grandmother, Josephine Mazza, who died of breast cancer and honor his mother, Marianne Fenimore, who is a local breast cancer survivor.

“It’s our goal for Pine2Pink to provide a source of relief and comfort to patients during the grueling process of treatment and recovery and let them focus on becoming whole again, and take away some of the financial stresses that come with battling breast cancer," Fenimore said.

As part of the initiative, Pine2Pink will change Pine Street in Doylestown to Pink Street.

In New Hope, a commemorative sign will be placed beneath the street sign on Mechanic Street. Peddler’s Village will name a walking path off their main green Pink Street.

Also, many exterior lights throughout both towns and Peddler’s Village will change from white to pink the entire month. Hundreds of retailers and larger buildings like the Bucks County courthouse, Michener Museum and Mercer Museum will glow pink.

The official 2019 Pine2Pink launch event will be held on Sunday, September 29 at 1 p.m. on the side lawn of the Mercer Museum on Pine Street, across from the Michener Museum entrance. Local breast cancer patients, survivors, and community leaders will be present.
