New Hope Woman Banned From Bar, & More Incidents: Police

The New Hope Borough Police Dept's log detailed a crash between a box truck and trash truck, and put out word on a lost diamond bracelet.

NEW HOPE, PA — The New Hope Borough Police Department responded to numerous incidents since the beginning of 2022.

Saturday, Jan. 1

10:37 p.m. — Police were called to a domestic disturbance on W. Mechanic Street. A man and woman were involved in a verbal dispute. They were calmed down and sent on their way.

2:49 p.m. — A resident stopped at police headquarters to turn in a ring she found at the New Hope Post Office. Anyone who may have lost a ring is asked to contact the New Hope Borough Police Department and give a description, to see if it matches the one found.

Saturday, Jan. 8

1:13 a.m. — Police responded to a South Main Street restaurant for an intoxicated disorderly man and woman. The man had difficulty walking. Staff asked the couple to leave the premises, but were concerned the couple might attempt to drive so police were contacted. Police found the couple on the sidewalk and sent them on their way in an Uber with no further problems.

Sunday, Jan. 16

1:11 a.m. — Police were dispatched to a South Main Street restaurant to help an intoxicated man who'd become separated from his friends. Officers found his friends in another establishment and brought him to them. They all left in an Uber without further incident.

Tuesday, Jan. 18

10:10 a.m. — Police responded to an accident on South Main Street near Route 232 in which an Isuzu box truck hit a Peterbuilt Trash Truck. The trash truck had been stopped in the northbound lane on South Main Street picking up trash. The Isuzu Box truck was driving northbound on South Main Street. Due to inattentive driving, the Isuzu truck driver drove into the back of the stopped trash truck. The box truck sustained major damage, while the trash truck sustained little damage. The box truck was towed from the scene, and the driver sustained a minor laceration to his head. The driver refused medical treatment by the Lambertville-New Hope Ambulance & Rescue Squad.

Sunday, Jan. 23

8:30 p.m. — Police were dispatched to a South Main Street restaurant for an intoxicated, unwanted person. On arrival, officers encountered one man and two women. All had been drinking in town. They were cooperative and paid their bill, and were then taken to a hotel in town without further incident.

5:06 p.m. — Police were dispatched to a home where a man was found dead on arrival. The case did not appear to be suspicious in nature and police believed it to be a suicide. The Bucks County Coroner's Office was contacted and toxicology reports are pending.

Tuesday, Jan. 25

9:35 a.m. — A large dog was being walked by his owner without a leash near the New Hope-Solebury High School baseball fields. The owner was reminded of the borough's ordinance requiring dog leashes to always be used outside in New Hope.

Wednesday, Jan. 26

12:52 a.m. — A citizen flagged down an officer at the intersection of Lower York Road and Rabbit Run Drive and advised them of a woman asleep in the driver's seat of her car. The 34-year-old woman from Great Meadows, New Jersey was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances.

3:28 p.m. — A Subaru key fob was found somewhere in Solebury Township and turned into the New Hope Borough Police Department. Anyone who believes this key fob may be theirs is to contact the New Hope Police Department at (215) 862-3033.

Thursday, Jan. 27

10:52 p.m. — Police were dispatched to Village II for a domestic dispute, where they found a couple who had been arguing. Police were able to talk to both parties and thought it best if they separated for the time being. Police took one person to a local hotel. No arrests were made.

Friday, Jan. 28

9:57 p.m. — While patrolling on West Bridge Street, officers saw a 24-year-old man driving a car without operating head lights or taillights. Upon approaching the car, officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Charges to proceed by summons.

Sunday, Jan. 30

1:34 p.m. — Police issued four citations to residents and businesses for failure to abide with the Borough ordinance of snow and ice removal from sidewalks and pedestrian walkways following a storm.

Monday, Jan. 31

7:31 p.m. — Police saw a running car in a parking lot on South Main Street during their patrol, with two 18-year-old men inside. The men were from Perkasie and New Hope. As the officers approached the car, one man was sparking a lighter continuously and the smell of burning marijuana was detected. Charges to proceed by summons.

Wednesday, Feb. 2

9:39 a.m. — A woman reported losing a diamond tennis bracelet, possibly on Mechanic Street. Anyone who has found it should notify the New Hope Police Department at (215) 862-3033 and police will have it returned to the owner.

Thursday, Feb. 10

10 p.m. — Officers saw a car on South Main Street without a functioning rear lighting system. The 37-year-old male driver had trouble putting down the window upon the officer's approach. The passenger opened the door and the officer immediately detected the strong smell of alcohol emanating from the vehicle. The male driver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances.

Friday, Feb. 11

4 p.m. — A resident came to police headquarters to report criminal mischief to his car on West Bridge Street. At this time, the investigation is pending receiving surveillance footage from the neighboring business.

Wednesday, Feb. 16

3:55 p.m. — Police were dispatched to Hardy Bush Way and Route 202 for an accident. Both cars involved were damaged to the point of needing a tow. One occupant was taken to the local hospital for further evaluation.

Sunday, Feb. 20

1:19 a.m. — While officers were conducting a property check on South Main Street, they saw a car running in the parking lot with the lights on, occupied by an 18-year-old man from New Hope. The man was seen passing a glass water pipe commonly used for smoking marijuana to the female passenger. Officers smelled burnt marijuana and observed a green leafy substance on the driver’s lap and on the center console. Charges to proceed by summons.

12 a.m. — Police were dispatched to a South Main Street bar for a disturbance. A 52-year-old Hamilton, New Jersey man and a 51-year-old New Hope woman were outside the bar when officers arrived. Both people were told to leave the area, and are permanently banned from the establishment. Charges to proceed by summons.

Monday, Feb. 21

9:27 p.m. — An officer saw a car speeding on Route 179. When the officer approached the 23-year-old Doylestown man's car, there was a smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle and the officer found drug paraphernalia. Charges to proceed by summons.

Wednesday, Feb. 23

10:08 a.m. — An investigation is ongoing after a 58-year-old woman came to police headquarters to report fraud regarding a stolen social security number.
