NEW HOPE BOROUGH, PA — The New Hope Borough Council in December voted unanimously to hire Brian Berk as a part-time police officer. He will be paid $35 an hour.

Berk, a resident of Northampton Township, comes to the borough from the Warminster Township Police Department where he has served as a full-time officer since 2016 and earned a promotion to corporal in 2023.

Berk is pursuing a new career in teaching, but is looking to remain in policing on a part-time basis.

"This is really special for our department because it's rare that we have an opportunity to hire someone who has served as a full-time officer in another municipality for nine years. He worked himself up to be corporal and is a member of the CERT team," said Mayor Larry Keller.

"Warminister can be a very active township so it's pretty special that we have him," the mayor continued. "We're not going to get three shifts a week, but even if we can get three shifts a month, it will be a big asset for our community."
