South Hunterdon School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in South Hunterdon is September 5. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The South Hunterdon School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

September

• 9/5: First Day of School
• 9/13: Back to School Night (PreK-6th Grade)
• 9/14: Back to School Night (7th-12th)
• 9/21: Rosh Hashanah - No School

October

• 10/13: Early Dismissal - Staff In-Service

November

• 11/1: Staff In-Service - School Closed
• 11/6-8: Parent Teacher Conferences (LPS, SBS WA) - Early Dismissal Elementary Only
• 11/9-10: NJEA Convention - School Closed
• 11/22: Early Dismissal
• 11/23-24: Thanksgiving Recess - School Closed

December

• 12/22: Early Dismissal - Winter Recess Begins

January

• 1/2: School Resumes
• 1/15: Martin Luther King Jr. Day - School Closed

February

• 2/16-19: Presidents' Weekend - School Closed

March

• 3/6-8: Parent Teacher Conferences (LPS, SBS WA) - Early Dismissal Elementary Only
• 3/9: Staff In-Service - School Closed
• 3/29: Early Dismissal - Spring Recess Begins

April

• 4/9: School Resumes
• 4/26: Early Dismissal - Staff In-Service

May

• 5/28-29: Memorial Day - School Closed

June

• 6/12-15: Final Exams (High School)
• 6/12-15: Early Dismissal - All PreK-12 Students
• 6/14: Elementary Promotion Day
• 6/15: Last Day - Students / Tentative HS Graduation
• 6/18: Last Day - Staff In-Service

Emergency Closings

If emergency closings occur, the following days will be used to compensate for school closings:

• May 29
• June 18
• June 19

If additional instructional days are needed, days from Spring Recess will be used in the following order:

• April 6
• April 5
• April 4
• April 3
• April 2
