BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Local Democratic chairman John Cordisco will no longer appear alongside Congressional representative Brian Fitzpatrick at the upcoming Stand with Ukraine fundraiser, the Bucks County Democratic Committee said in a statement Monday.

The committee said the decision was reached "after much deliberation."

Cordisco had come under fire from his party with regards to the event on Twitter, ahead of primary elections in May. He and Fitzpatrick were supposed to make the headlining remarks.

Described as an hors d'oeuvres reception with tickets at $100 per person, the fundraiser will benefit the United Ukrainian American Relief Committee.

It is also taking place at the Newtown Athletic Club. Club owner Jim Worthington is a prominent Republican in Bucks County — and is currently engaged in a lawsuit against Ashley Ehasz, a Democratic candidate for Fitzpatrick's congressional seat.

"Cordisco will be working with the committee on a charity event at a separate location & will be making a $5,000 contribution to the evening's beneficiary," the Bucks County Democratic Committee shared online.

The Democrats added, "The committee’s mission to provide humanitarian relief to the victims of the war in Ukraine is vital."

According to the Bucks County Courier Times, Cordisco said he had originally been "delighted" to attend the event and initially agreed due to his belief that "bipartisanship is possible."

Worthington had previously said"it's crazy" for people in Cordisco's party to be angry about the event, according to the news organization.

"I've been friends with John Cordisco for 20 years," Worthington told the Bucks County Courier Times. "We have a professional relationship as well. John Cordisco is a member of the NAC. So is Brian Fitzpatrick."

Fitzpatrick told the Courier Times that he still plans to attend the fundraiser on April 29.
