Egg Hunt Set To Scramble In Newtown: New Times Announced
Are you ready to scramble? 8,000 eggs will be scattered across the field at Goodnoe Elementary School for the Newtown Community Egg Hunt.

NEWTOWN, PA — One of the most unique egg hunts in the county will take place on Saturday, April 12 right here in Newtown.
During the Newtown Community Egg Hunt presented by the Newtown Rotary Club, not only will youngsters scramble across the fields behind Goodnoe Elementary School on Frost Lane scooping up colorful plastic eggs, so will their parents and grandparents.
"You're not going to see this anywhere else," said egg hunt organizer Paul Salvatore, who explained that after their kids and grandchildren hit the field in a series of age-group hunts, their parents and grandparents will be invited to join the scramble.

Salvatore typically opens the adult and grandparents hunt with some sage advice for the older egg hunters: “Remember, your children are watching,” he cautions.

“They don’t heed my warning, but I give it anyway,” said Salvatore of one of the craziest egg scrambles you’ll ever see with adults stumbling over each other in a mad dash to collect as many eggs as possible.
Another unique aspect of the hunt is the participation of the Montgomery County Bomb Squad.
So why, you ask, is the bomb squad needed at an Easter egg hunt?
It's pretty simple, says Salvatore. The bomb squad will be bringing its high-tech beeping eggs to the event, which will allow the blind and visually impaired to take part in the annual tradition.
Instead of visually finding the eggs, they'll follow the beeping sounds, explains Salvatore.

This year, Salvatore confirmed that 8,000 eggs filled will candy and prizes will be for grabs at Saturday’s event. The eggs have been donated by the First National Bank of Newtown, with Sam’s Club providing the candy inside.
According to Salvatore, a few lucky hunters will find a prize worth about $75 inside their colorful plastic eggs.
Salvatore noted that there are new times this year for the hunt.
The event opens with a Meet and Greet with the Easter Bunny at 10:15 a.m. Bring your cell phones and cameras to capture the kids with the bunny.
At 10:30 a.m., the hunt for the blind and visually impaired will take place in one corner of the field. Anyone who is blind and visually impaired is invited to participate.
At 11 a.m. sharp, the main hunt begins in a series of nine age group scrambles that begin with the youngest and ends with parents and grandparents.
The hunt is free and open to the public. The rain date is Saturday, April 19.
