The carnival is a springtime tradition in the township and a fundraiser for the township's volunteer firefighters. The fire company held its first one back in 1979 at the Taylorsville Road fire station and in an open field across the street in what is now the River Knolls development. The carnival was later relocated to Washington Crossing Historic Park.
