Free Ice At Newtown Rita's In New First Week Of Spring Deal

NEWTOWN, PA — Many Newtown residents look forward to free water ice from Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard on the first day of spring each year — it's been a tradition for decades. But in 2022, Rita's is kicking things up a notch.

People with the Rita's app can now claim their free ice anytime March 20 through March 27.

All you need to do is download the Rita's app and create an account by Sunday. As part of the weeklong promotion, parents will also be able to redeem a free ice for their children using the reward.

The beloved water ice and frozen custard franchise actually started in Bucks County.

Here are some other fun facts about Rita's:

• The first Rita's opened in Bensalem in 1984 by former Philadelphia firefighter Bob Tumolo. He named the business after his wife.
• Rita's offers more than 60 flavors made fresh, and different locations rotate their flavors every day.
• Mango is the most popular flavor of Italian Ice at Rita’s, with Cherry Italian Ice and Swedish Fish® flavor as the runners up.

In Newtown, delicious ice can be found at 14 Swamp Rd. The shop is open 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. every day.
