NEWTOWN, PA — A new restaurant in Newtown that was open just days before it was forced to close amid the coronavirus outbreak is using this time to give back to employees.

Solstice, located in the Village at Newtown Shopping Center, temporarily closed a week after its March 9 opening.

The restaurant has launched a "Sunday Supper" service for its staff. Every Sunday, Solstice staff are invited to stop by the restaurant and pick up a meal for two for each employee to bring home.

Chef Jason Audette is overseeing the preparation of the take-away meals.

Pick-ups will be staggered so as to avoid any gatherings within the establishment and only two senior management staff will be on-site to manage the process at a time to ensure the recommended social distancing is still maintained.

"Solstice’s ownership and management teams will continue to do everything they can to assist the staff and community through this temporary closure and hope this will provide a little bit of weekly relief or their employees," the restaurant said in an announcement.

Solstice spokeswoman Lisa Schwartz said the restaurant is looking forward to reopening.

"As soon as it’s safe and allowed we look forward to opening our doors back up," she said.
