Newtown Twp. Looking To Fill Opening On Sewer Authority
The authority made news recently with a proposal to construct a wastewater treatment plant in the township on Lower Silver Lake Road.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors is looking for residents interested in serving on the Newtown, Bucks County Joint Municipal Sewer Authority.
There is an opening on the six-member board following the resignation of Linda Bobrin, a former township supervisor and the county's current Register of Wills.
Newtown Township residents interested in serving on the authority are asked to send a letter of interest and resume to Olivia Kivenko at: Oliviak@newtownpa.gov

The board, which meets on the second Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the authority's headquarters on South Congress Street in Newtown Borough, is responsible for the construction, maintenance, and operation of water and sewer infrastructure in the township and the borough.
The board consists of three members appointed by Newtown Township and three by Newtown Borough. Board members serve staggered five-year terms, ensuring stable leadership and balanced representation of community interests.

Bowing to mounting public pressure from the community and the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors, the board in March voted to halt all work on the proposed facility.
The authority had been actively pursuing construction of the treatment facility on a 17.5-acre parcel between the Newtown Bypass and Lower Silver Lake Road.
