Police Charge Man In Gun Waving Incident At Newtown Borough Bar
Police also investigated several cases of fraud in the borough during March, including a business computer that was hacked.
NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA - A man accused of waving a gun around inside a borough bar earlier this year now faces charges for his actions.
Newtown Borough Police Chief James Sabath reported at Tuesday night's council meeting that the 32-year-old Churchville man has been officially charged with recklessly endangering the lives of the people inside the bar that night.
The chief said the department also investigated several cases of fraud during March, including a business computer that was hacked.

"(The hack) was traced to being from overseas. All of their customers were sent out emails redirecting their accounts receivable to a fake overseas account," said Sabath.
"Fortunately it was caught and the company suffered no pecuniary loss," said the chief.

The chief also delivered an update to the council on the department's participation in an aggressive driving enforcement ave, which runs through April 27.
Under a PennDOT grant, the department has been targeting speeding, distracted driving and running red lights since early March.
The goal of the targeted statewide enforcement wave is to reduce the number of aggressive driving-related crashes, injuries, and deaths on roadways throughout the state.
To date, the chief said officers in the borough have issued 94 citations for aggressive driving behaviors.
When the crackdown ends later this month, officers will shift their attention to pedestrian safety enforcement during the first two weeks of May under a new grant.
Looking ahead, Chief Sabath said the department will again participate in a countywide Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Police will offer a drive-up drop-off collection site at the firehouse parking lot on Washington Avenue where they will be accepting expired, unwanted, and unused prescription drugs for safe disposal.
Accepted at the drop-off location will be prescription medications, vaping products, over-the-counter medications, pet medications, and sharps (please ensure no needles are exposed and all sharps are safely secured).
Police will also be distributing the overdose drug Narcan to anyone who requests the drug.
