Police Make DUI Arrest, Investigate Retail Thefts In Newtown Township

Police also investigated the report of a stolen purse and a man wearing a ski mask for an extended period of time inside a township store.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between Jan. 18 and 23:

January 18

  • At approximately 12:45 a.m. police were dispatched to Penns Park Road and Cherry Lane in Wrightstown for the report of a single-vehicle traffic accident. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

January 19

  • At approximately 1:30 p.m. police were dispatched to Ulta Beauty on South Eagle Road for the report of a retail theft. The total value of loss was $177. An investigation is ongoing.

January 20

  • Shortly before 3 p.m., police responded to ACE Hardware on South Eagle Road for the report of a retail theft. The total value of loss was $200. An investigation is ongoing.

January 21

  • Police were contacted around 9:15 a.m. regarding a theft from a vehicle. The victim told police that her purse was stolen from her unlocked vehicle while parked at Helen Randle Park. She also received multiple notifications of someone’s attempts to fraudulently access her bank accounts. The investigation is ongoing.

January 22

  • At approximately 12:30 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Tesla for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Newtown-Langhorne Road. As a result of an investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence. Charges are pending.
  • At approximately 2:30 a.m. police conducted a pedestrian stop at the 7-Eleven store on South Sycamore Street on a man wearing a ski mask inside the business for an extended time. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence. Charges are pending.
