Street Closures Announced In Advance Of Newtown Borough Thanksgiving 5K

Inaugural event to step off Thursday morning in support of the Bucks County Heroes Scholarship Fund and in memory of Officer Brian Gregg.

NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — The Newtown Borough Police Department has announced the following street closures in advance of the inaugural Newtown Turkey Trot 5K taking place on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

The run is scheduled to step off from Officer Brian S. Gregg Memorial Park next to the Chancellor Center in memory of Officer Gregg (Badge No. 5103), a Newtown police officer who lost his life in the line of duty. For information and parking, click here.

Proceeds from the race will benefit the Bucks County Heroes Scholarship Fund, which supports the families of local first responders who have been killed or permanently disabled while serving the community.

Temporary road closures will start at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 27. Anyone who lives on the route should consider alternate routes and allow extra time for traveling. Anyone who has holiday plans and needs to leave should park their vehicle outside of the race route before 8:30 a.m.

Local businesses will be open and the police department will assist as much as possible to help with traveling in Newtown. Police will reopen the roads as soon as all participants are safely across the
finish line.

Road Closures

  • North Congress between Washington and Jefferson will close at 7 a.m. for event setup.
  • North State Street (Washington Avenue - Edgeboro Drive) 8:30 a.m.
  • Greene Street (North State Street – North Congress Street) 8:30 a.m.
  • Edgeboro Drive (North State Street – Linton Hill Road) 8:30 a.m.
  • Frost Lane (Edgeboro Drive – North Lincoln Avenue) 8:30 a.m.
  • Jefferson Street (North Sycamore Street – North Lincoln Avenue) 8:30 a.m.
  • Liberty Street (Washington Avenue – Jefferson Street) 8:30 a.m.
  • North Congress Street (Washington Avenue – Frost Lane) 8:30 a.m.
  • North Chancellor Street (Washington Avenue – Frost Lane) 8:30 a.m.
  • Federal Lane
  • Jefferson Street at North Sycamore Street (Newtown Township) 8:30 a.m.

Parking Restrictions

  • No parking on North Congress Street between Jefferson Street and Greene Street will go into effect at 6 a.m. for event setup.
  • No overnight parking or event day parking at the Council Rock Chancellor Center parking lot located at 30 North Chancellor Street

Additional information

Any person attending the event should follow their Turkey Trot 5K information packet. No parking will be allowed along the race route.
