Truck Seized, May Be Connected To Cooking Oil Thefts: Newtown Police
In other reports, police charged a man with aggravated assault, simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment, and terroristic threats.
NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between April 17 and April 24:
April 17
- At approximately 5 p.m., police were dispatched to Ulta Beauty for a retail theft. The total value of loss was $210. The investigation is ongoing.

- At approximately 6 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Home Depot rental box truck for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown-Yardley Road and Tara Boulevard. As a result of the stop, the truck was impounded. The investigation is ongoing into its connection to thefts of cooking oil.
April 20
- At approximately 11:15 p.m., police were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence for the report of a disturbance. As a result of the investigation, one male subject was taken into custody without incident and charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment, and terroristic threats.
April 21

- At approximately 2:30 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Jeep for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Durham Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
April 22
- Shortly before 10 a.m., a Newtown Township resident responded to headquarters to report fraud. There were several unauthorized/fraudulent transactions from his bank account after he received a scam phone call from someone claiming to be a bank representative. The total value of loss was $1,124, and the investigation is ongoing.
- At approximately 4:30 p.m., police were contacted in regards to the theft of several checks. The investigation is ongoing.
- At approximately 9 p.m., a Newtown Township resident contacted police to report fraud. There were several unauthorized/fraudulent transactions on his credit card accounts. The total value of loss was $4,231.39. The investigation is ongoing.
April 24
- At approximately 2:15 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Lexus sedan for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Swamp Road. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence. Charges are pending.
- At approximately 2 p.m., a Newtown Township resident contacted police to report fraud. After several emails that originally appeared to be from a known contact, the resident was asked to make several wire transfers. The investigation is ongoing.
