Area Public Schools, Municipal and County Services Closed, SEPTA Suspends Service For Monday

Norristown, Methacton, Upper Merion and Colonial school districts and SEPTA have announced Hurricane Sandy-related closings.

Several area school districts including Norristown, Methacton, Upper Merion and Colonial have cancelled school for Monday due to Hurricane Sandy. NBC 10 reports the Archdiocese of Philadelphia will also close its parochial schools Monday and Tuesday.

Montgomery County has also declared courthouse and county services will be closed for Monday. Norristown municipal offices will also be closed on Monday and officials are urging residents in need of emergency assistance to call 911. Parking enforcement in the municipality is also suspended for the day.

SEPTA has also announced it will be suspending service on Monday. According to a press release, SEPTA will shut down after Sunday daily service — roughly 12:30 a.m. Monday morning. This will affect all lines — including buses, regional rails, subways and trolleys.

SEPTA plans to be shut down all of Monday, however CCT Paratransit service is available for reserved dialysis patients only as long as safe operations are possible.
