Montco Detectives Investigate Fatal Norristown Shooting Monday Night

Investigators are looking into a fatal shooting of a Norristown man that occurred overnight Monday. He was found shot dead on the sidewalk.

NORRISTOWN, PA — County prosecutors have announced an investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred in Norristown during the overnight hours on Monday.

The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office said that Stephan Bates, 56, of Norristown, was found dead Tuesday morning around 6 a.m., having been shot dead sometime during the previous night.

Police responded to the 300 block of Noble Street Tuesday morning and found Bates dead on the sidewalk. He had been shot multiple times, according to the DA's Office.

A joint investigation has been launched by Norristown Police and the Montgomery County Detective Bureau.

Police said that initial indications were that Bates had been killed during the overnight hours, but they are not sure yet of the specific timeframe.
