'Movies From The Hill' Brings Movies to Norristown for Free
Project Twenty 1 to show animated shorts for free on July 13.

Project Twenty 1, a nonprofit arts organization, has been working diligently to bring a touch of art into Norristown to help it to become revitalized. Started in 2006, the organization is now a full-time model, which runs multiple programs each year.
The latest addition to this long list of ways they bring art into town is through its “Movies from the Hill” program. At 8 p.m. on July 13 (with rain date of July 22) family friendly flicks will begin at Dekalb and East Airy streets, at the top of the “Norristown Arts Hill.”
During the show times, all will be able to enjoy screenings of independent animations, absolutely free. The hot spot is located just a few blocks away from the Norristown Transportation Center (SEPTA R6, high speed line).

The events have really grown in the area.
“If you’re an emerging artist without studio dollars or celebrities attached to your film, it’s very difficult to get your work seen by the public,” said Chris Barley, a Yardley-based animator of one of the award-winning shorts in the program entitled Little Dudes in a recent release from Project Twenty 1. “I’m thankful for this opportunity and I hope that is can lead to some partnerships that would allow me to do stop-motion animation in Norristown.”

Others are thrilled this artistic flavor is back.
“I really miss the Norristown theaters, so I’m excited that the arts seem to be returning to this town in a big way,” says David Lucidi, owner of Simco Sign Studios and sponsor of the event.
