Norristown Named 59th 'Most Dangerous City in the U.S.'
Norristown was ranked behind other Pennsylvania cities like Philadelphia (#52), Harrisburg (#20) and Chester (#2).

Neighborhood Scout, a data-collecting website, has released a list of the Top 100 Most Dangerous Cities in the U.S. according to data it's collected and parsed and Norristown clocks in at #59. Other Pennsylvania cities ranked include Philadelphia (#52), Harrisburg (#20) and Chester (#2).
According to the website, cities with 25,000 or more people were ranked based on the number of violent crimes per 1,000 residents. Violent crimes recorded included murder, forcible rape, armed robbery and aggravated assault. The Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) Uniform Crime Reports were used to compile the list.
The chance of being a victim of violent crime or property crime in Norristown is 1 in 24, according to the website's reading of the data. They've also noted that Norristown has one of the highest rates of motor vehicle theft in the country.
