Why Go:Â What's your favorite chili recipe? Teams will face off in Whole Foods' first ever chili cook-off. Come hungry and ready to judge the competition. There will be recipes for you to make at home and live music. Winners get bragging rights until next year.

Sewickley Series: "The Power of Two"
When/Where: 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 in Gregg Theater, Sewickley Academy, 315 Academy Ave.
Why Go: See the feature directorial debut of Academy Award nominated producer Marc Smolowitz. The Power of Two offers an intimate portrayal of the bond between half-Japanese twin sisters Anabel Stenzel and Isabel Stenzel Byrnes.

WPIAL Competitive Cheerleading Championships
Where/When:Â 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 at North Hills Junior High School, 55 Rochester Road.Â
Why Go: Watch North Allegheny cheering squad compete with North Hills, Pine-Richland and other area schools. There are 25 schools competing for titles in three classifications; A, AA, and AAA. Doors open at 9 am. NA begins warming up at 12:48 before going on deck.
Admission:Â $8 adults; $5 for students.Â

Open Ceramics
When/Where: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Sweetwater Center for the Arts, 200 Broad St., Sewickley.
Why Go: Support of an "Empty Bowls" fundraising event, hosted by Just Harvest, an organization working to eliminate hunger and poverty. Clay is provided and an instructor will assist those without experience. All bowls created will be glazed and donated to Just Harvest's "Empty Bowls" dinner fundraiser, which takes place at Rodef Shalom on Sunday, March 10. Call 412-741-4405 to register. Walk-ins are also welcome.
