Get Out: See a Movie, Go Ice Skating or Take a Hike

Maybe it's been a busy week and you haven't had a single moment to think about what you're doing this weekend. Patch has five suggestions.

It’s Friday, and you're still trying to decide what to do for the weekend. You're in luck. North Allegheny Patch is here with a few ideas.

Olive Oil--Slick 
When/Where: 1 p.m. Saturday at Market District in Pine Township. 

Why Go:  Olive oil is a staple in most kitchens and promoted as a good choice for healthier eating. Come see how Market District chefs use this essential ingredient to create better-for-you recipes.

Admission: Free. All demos are held at the demo station near the seafood counter.

Promised Land
When/Where: 12:55 p.m., 3:55 p.m., 7 p.m. and 10:05 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Rave Cinemas Pittsburgh North, 119700 McKnight Road.

Why Go:  See the movie that was filmed just north of Pittsburgh. Directed by Gus Van Sant, Promised Land, a drama focused on the natural gas industry, stars Matt Damon and John Krasinski.

Go Ice Skating
When/Where: 9-11 a.m.; noon-3 p.m.; 4:30-7 p.m.; and 7:30-10 p.m. Saturday at the North Park . Click here for other days/times.

Why Go: You don't have to be a skating pro to have fun on the ice, plus think of the health benefits. 

Admission: $5 for ages 18-59; $3 for ages 17 and under & ages 60 and over. Admission is free for active volunteer firefighters and EMTs with  Park Pass Program photo ID. Skate rental is $2, and skate sharpening, when available, is $4.50.

The Nazi Olympics: Berlin 1936
When/Where: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the August Wilson Center, 980 Liberty Ave., Pittsburgh. 

Why Go: This exhibit, on loan through Feb. 1 from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and presented in collaboration with the Holocaust Center of the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, explores the courage and triumph of athletes who boycotted, participated in or were barred from the Games.

Admission: $8 for adults, $6 for teachers, $4 for seniors (62 and over) and students with valid ID, and $3 for children. 

Take a Hike with Venture Outdoors
When/Where: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in Moraine State Park. 

Why Go: Take a drive to Butler County and spend a day with Venture Outdoors in the woods of Moraine State Park exploring Pennsylvania's natural beauty. Hike 7 to 9 miles covering moderate to difficult terrain.

Admission: $6 member/ $10 non-member. This hike is dog friendly. Register here.
