Get Out: Winter Beer Tasting, Winter Bonfire or Bon Journey

1. Bon Journey

When/Where: 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 at Jergel's Rhythm Grille, 103 Slade Lane, Warrendale.

2. Winter Bonfire

When/Where: 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 at Blueberry Hill Park in Franklin Park. 

Why Go: Beat the winter blahs. Enjoy cookies and hot chocolate with friends around a large bonfire. Weather permitting, youth groups, scouts, families or individuals are invited to create a snow sculpture. A prize will be awarded for the best sculpture. Or enjoy a carriage ridge through the park. 

Admission: Free. Each person attending is asked to bring a canned good or some other non-perishable item to be donated to a local food bank. 

 

3. Les Misérables

When/Where: 2 and 8 p.m. Saturdays, Jan. 19 and 1 and 6:30 p.m. Sundays through Jan. 27 at the Benedum Center.  

Why Go: The new production of Les Misérables, part of PNC Broadway Across America, features new staging and reimagined scenery inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo.

4. Winter Beer Tasting

When/Where: 2 p.m. Saturday, at .

Why Go: Kick off the Pens season with a beer-tasting tailgate. The tasting includes 12 beer samples, an appetizer plate, a four-pack to take home, and some giveaways, plus demonstrations, activities, contests and pet adoptions. The event benefits the Animal Rescue League. 

Admission: Tickets are $25 plus tax. Call 412-741-0300 for more information. 

 

5. DJ at Perrytowne Drafthouse

When/Where: 10 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday at Perrytowne Drafthouse, 1002 Perry Highway.

Why Go: DJ Ro, dubbed the hottest female DJ in the North Hills, will be rocking the drafthouse. Come early to watch the Pens and enjoy 25 cent wings, $1.25 nachos and $2.50 Budlight drafts.
