Man Convicted of Raping LaRoche Freshman

The woman was assaulted in 2005 while visiting a friend's dorm room on the McCandless campus.

A 36-year-old man faces sentencing Oct. 3 for raping a LaRoche College freshman in a dormitory in 2005.

An Allegheny County jury Tuesday convicted Salvator Nzo-miseng, a native of Africa, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported.

The victim, 19, said she was visiting a friend's dorm in Bold Hall in September of 2005 when she blacked out after drinking alcohol. She told prosecutors that when she awoke, she found herself naked and in bed with Nzo-miseng on top of her. She passed out again and woke up on the floor the next morning, the Trib reported.

Nzo-miseng left the United States in 2007 after being released from jail on bond. He eventually arrested in March, while traveling for business in Germany. He had been working out of his home country of Equatorial Guinea for years, the Trib reported.

Nzo-miseng's attorney told the newspaper he intends to appeal.
