McCandless Planning Commission Meeting, Firefighter for a Weekend, Highlight Week Ahead

2. Books and Bricks

Northland Public Library. Tues. Sept. 3. 4 p.m. Children in Kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to use their hands and imaginations to explore engineering and design challenges by building with Lego bricks. More info here.

3. Tuesday Night Book Discussion

Northland Public Library, Sept. 3. 7 p.m. Tuesday Night Book Group will discuss Rebecca Stott’s Darwin’s Ghosts: The Secret History of Evolution. A collective discovery of evolution from Aristotle walking the shores of Lesbos to AlJahiz, an Arab writer in the first century; from Leonard da Vinci searching for fossils in the Tuscan hills to Denis Diderot who explored the origins of species while under the surveillance of the secret police.

4. Children's Science Investigators (CSI)

Northland Public Library. Wed. Spet 4. 4:30 p.m. Hamsters and Hermit Crabs are scheduled to invade Northland Public Library this fall! Kindergarteners through second graders are invited to join one of the two new CSI Clubs this fall. The first CSI Club, The Hamsters, will meet the first Wednesday of each month, and the second club, The Hermit Crabs, will meet the third Wednesday of each month. More info here.

5. Firefighter for a Weekend 2013

Sept. 7. Have you ever thought about becoming a firefighter? Well now is your chance to give it a try without any strings attached! Spend the weekend with Perrysville Volunteer Fire Company, Station 248 learning what being a volunteer firefighter is all about. More information here.
