NASA Rocket Launch to be Visible in North Allegheny Area

Residents could see a 90-foot-tall NASA rocket launch Friday night.

For about four minutes Friday night, residents of the North Allegheny communities or McCandless, Marshall Township, Franklin Park, and Bradford Woods may be able to get a glimpse of a NASA rocket launch.

NASA will be launching a 90-foot-tall Minotaur V orbital rocket at approximately 11:27 p.m. on Friday from its Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia. Depending on the weather conditions, the Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer liftoff is expected to be highly visible throughout the Eastern United States from about 11:27 p.m. to 11:31 p.m., according to NASA.

The launch will be shown live on NASA TV beginning at 9:30 p.m. on Friday.
