North Allegheny Hires Coordinator of Special Education

In an unanimous vote Wednesday, the North Allegheny School Board approved the appointment of Patricia Tkacik to the position of Coordinator of Special Education.

Tkacik began her teaching career at McKeesport Area School District, as an Instructional Support Teacher in August 1995. She also has experience as a Reading Teacher in an Emotional Support classroom and a Special Education Teacher in a Life Skills classroom.

In July 1999, Tkacik became the Supervisor of Special Education and then was appointed Director of Special Education in December 2007 at McKeesport Area School District. 

Tkacik received her Supervisor of Special Education certificate from the University of Pittsburgh, a Master of Education in Reading and Language Arts along with a Reading Specialist certificate from Temple University, and has a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from the Pennsylvania State University.

She will earn an annual salary of $105,000.
