Sweetwater Offers Winter Classes at North Campus

When Sweetwater Center for the Arts started a parternship last spring with Curves of Wexford, the non-profit wasn't sure what the response would be at the satellite campus.  

"We are now going into our fourth session running classes there," said Jessica Revtai, Sweetwater's education director.

Located within the Curves in Franklin Park, the North campus offers the same quality of classes and workshops found at Sweetwater's main Sewickley campus.

"It’s a great opportunity to capture an audience in the North Hills since there really isn’t an art facility close by," Revtai said.

Revtai said they started out offering only a few classes and picked up from there. Nicole Williams, who runs Curves, has been wonderful, she said, and the Curves staff have been helpful in managing the facility when Sweetwater holds classes, making sure that everything goes smoothly, she added.

"We are lucky to have developed a great partnership with them," Revtai said.

This winter, Sweetwater will be running six classes and workshops at the satellite campus. Some classes begin Friday:

• Feelin’ Frosty - Ages 4-6, 4:30 to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25

Friendship Bracelets - Ages 6-8,  Friday, Jan. 25 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Afterschool Art Club - Ages 7-10, Mondays, from Jan. 28 through March 4 from 4:30 to 6 p.m..

Preschool Valentine’s Day Celebration - Ages 4-6, Wednesday, Feb. 13 from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Knits & Stitches - Ages 9-11, Friday, March 8 from 6 to 8 p.m..

Easter Egg Extravaganza - Ages 4-6, Friday, March 15, 2013, 5 to 6:30 p.m.
