Buck Road To Remain Closed Into Early 2026 In Northampton
The authority is reporting that the water main has been relocated, and that attention has shifted to excavation of a sewer launching pit.

NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA — Buck Road will remain closed and detoured on both sides of the Buck Road Bridge through much of January, according to the Northampton Township Municipal Authority.
The authority is reporting that the water main has been relocated and is currently active, and that attention has shifted to the excavation of a 17-foot-wide, 65-foot-long, and 15-foot-deep sewer launching pit located at 180 Buck Road.
"Ground conditions within the location of the pit are primarily rock and require time-consuming labor with heavy equipment to break down and remove virgin material," the authority reports. "With persistence, the right equipment, and a determined mindset, our contractor has been working towards getting this task completed."

In an updated schedule, the authority is now projecting that the detour will remain in place until Jan. 22, with the sewer launching pit backfill projected to be completed by Jan. 21, at which time the detour will be removed.
The work is being done in advance of the replacement of the Buck Road Bridge, the realignment of the intersection of Buck Road and Old Bristol Road and the addition of dedicated left turn lanes on both roads.

In addition, the eastern portion of Buck Road from Chinquapin Road eastbound to Old Bristol Road will be improved with sidewalks and decorative street lights.
Bids are expected to be awarded for the project in June 2026. The estimated project cost is $11 million.
