Northampton Police Log: Car Accidents & More, 7/19 - 7/25

Police responded to 26 alarms, 28 abandoned 911 calls, 35 medical calls, 2 domestic disputes and 17 bookings over the week.

NORTHAMPTON, PA — The Northampton Township Police Department responded to several calls last week, including one report of a car accident when a deer dashed into the road.

Monday, July 19

  • A complainant reported receiving a Verizon bill in his name for a total of $166.68. He contacted Verizon, who informed him the account was opened using the complainant’s social security number. Verizon’s fraud department informed the complainant that he would not be responsible for the bill and advised that he file a report with the police.
  • Patrol responded to Newtown Richboro Road at Holland Road for a report of a two-vehicle accident. One car rear-ended the other. There were no reported injuries and neither car required a tow.

Tuesday, July 20

  • Patrol responded to Jacksonville Road and Ashley Drive for a report of a one-vehicle accident. The car was traveling on Jacksonville Road when a deer ran into the roadway. There were no reported injuries and the car did not require a tow.
  • Patrol responded to East Bristol Road at Knowles Avenue for a report of a two-vehicle accident. The first car rear-ended the second. There were no reported injuries and minor damage to both vehicles.

Wednesday, July 21

  • Patrol responded to Bellwood Drive at Old Bristol Road for a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident. The first car was traveling on Old Bristol Road when its tire blew out, causing the driver to collide with the second car which was parked at the time. There were no reported injuries. The first car required a tow.
  • Patrol responded to a business off Council Rock Drive for a report of the smell of electric burning. Northampton Township Fire Department arrived on scene to evaluate.
  • Patrol responded to the area of 2nd St. Pike at Twining Ford Road for a report of a car swerving and striking fixed objects. Police located the car and spoke with its driver. After further investigation, the car operator was taken into custody and the incident was labeled a DUI accident.

Thursday, July 22

  • Patrol responded to Green Drive for a report of fire at the top of an electrical pole. Northampton Township Fire Department arrived on scene to evaluate.
  • Police responded to a report of a missing young person. After a period of time, contact was made with him and he was reunited with his family.
  • Patrol responded to the area of Cedarbrook Drive for a report of a theft. The complainant reported that someone stole her mailbox.
  • Patrol responded to Newtown Richboro Road in the area of the civic center for a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident. The first car rear-ended the second. There were no reported injuries and neither car required a tow.

Friday, July 23

  • Patrol responded to Buck Road at Rocksville Road for a report of a two-vehicle accident. The first car pulled into the intersection, causing a collision with the second car. The driver of the second car sustained minor injuries. Both cars were towed.
  • Patrol responded to a residence for a report of an alarm. Upon arrival, police spoke with the property owner, who said she locked herself out due to an interior door knob being broken. Police helped her gain entry to her residence. After entry was gained, police went back to their personal residence to retrieve tools and returned to her address to fix the interior door knob for her.

Saturday, July 24

  • Patrol responded to Almshouse Road for a requested wellbeing check. They made contact with the subject, who stated he ran out of gas and was lost. Patrol learned that he was reported missing out of Trenton. He was reunited with his family.
  • Patrol responded to Creekside Drive for a report of a fraud. The complainant reported that she mailed a check to her landscaping company and the check was cashed. The company reports they never received the check. The complainant said that the check was cashed at a different bank then the company uses for its bank.
  • Patrol responded to 2nd St. Pike at Newtown Richboro Road for a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident. The first car rear-ended the second. There were no reported injuries and neither vehicle required a tow.
  • Patrol responded to New Road for a report of a disabled van. After further investigation, two occupants were taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance.

Sunday, July 25

  • Patrol responded to Bustleton Pike at Elm Avenue for a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident. The first car entered the intersection, causing a collision with the second car. There were no reported injuries and neither car required a tow.
  • Patrol responded to Crossroads Plaza for a report of a water main break. The area was barricaded and coned off. Water Authority and Kimco Reality notified.
