Some residents speculated that the change might come in preparation for the proposed Wawa in Holland. However, the police said it's a response to data they've collected on area traffic patterns.

"This change in the speed limit was based on accident data," they wrote. "The Traffic Safety Unit monitors this type of information in an attempt to make our streets as safe as possible. Speed limit changes are not arbitrary and have to be in compliance with Penn Dot regulations."

Many others expressed concern about high speeding rates on Buck Road, with some even wishing that the speed limit would be extended further.

"At dinner tonight please add this information to the conversation," police advised. "Drive safely."
