NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA — St. Patrick’s Day is on a Friday this year. Entertainment, food and drink establishments in Northampton Township will be swimming in Kelly green, and perhaps flashing red and blue lights if people don’t behave themselves.
And devout Catholics may have to consult their parish priest before they dig into a plate of corned beef and cabbage.
Bucks County held its first St. Patrick's Day parade after a four-year absence due to the pandemic and a rainout last year. The parade took place in Levittown last Saturday.

Bucks County law enforcement strongly urges motorists not to drive impaired during the upcoming St. Patrick's Day holiday, one of the biggest drinking celebrations of the year.
PennDOT urges motorists to drive safely and to select a designated driver ahead of St. Patrick’s Day festivities.
During the 2022 St. Patrick's Day holiday weekend from March 11, 2022, through 6:00 a.m. March 20, 2022, there were 313 crashes statewide involving an impaired driver, resulting in four fatalities, according to preliminary PennDOT data.
Pennsylvania State Police and municipal police departments statewide conduct high visibility enforcement details such as roving patrols and sobriety checkpoints throughout the campaign, which started March 10 and concludes March 19.
Law enforcement agencies throughout the state actively participate in enforcement activities geared at deterring impaired drivers from getting behind the wheel and discouraging aggressive driving behaviors.
