Volunteers needed for the 15th Annual Rachel Carson Trail Challenge

The Allegheny County Parks Department today announced that Harrison Hills Park is in need of volunteers for the 15th Annual Rachel Carson Trail Challenge. The event, which includes three different challenges for hikers, will take place on Saturday, June 18. The trail challenge will be followed by a picnic for the nearly 1000 event participants hosted by the Friends of Harrison Hills Park from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the park’s Environmental Learning Center.

Volunteers are needed for the picnic and are requested to work two-hour shifts. Those interested are welcomed to sign up for as many shifts as they wish. Volunteers will be responsible for grilling hot dogs and hamburgers, serving food, keeping drink coolers filled, and general clean-up throughout the day.

Volunteers are also needed to set up tents and supplies from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, and Friday, June 17.
