Coffee Buddha, a new coffee shop at 964 Perrysville Ave., will open its doors to customers at 6 a.m. today, owner Mike Witherel said today.

The shop features a Buddhism theme and will be open from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

“I’m trying to sell atmosphere here where people will want to come and have meetings and meet others,” he said. “It will be a relaxing place. It’s something very different to the area, totally unique.”

The bright-red main floor will seat 10 to 20 people with additional seating available outside. Inspired by his own pooches, Witherel said front-porch seating is dog-friendly to accommodate the dog walkers that stroll past his shop.

Common Place Coffee, a roastery in Indiana, PA, supplied Coffee Buddha's equipment and will provide its beans. Pure Café in Wexford will be the source for the lunch menu, while Lincoln Bakery in Bellevue will provide the sweets.
