Downtown West View To Get Million-Dollar Makeover

WEST VIEW, PA — The heart of the borough soon will look considerably different, as West View is receiving $1 million in federal funds to spruce up its Downtown section.

The money will be spent on:

  • A feasibility study of the intended site for the expanded West View Volunteer Fire Department station.
  • A new community plaza.
  • Street beautification.
  • Safer crosswalks.
  • Installation of an ADA accessible ramp.

The funding was announced Tuesday by U.S. Rep. Chris Deluzio. The Aspinwall Democrat who took a walking tour along Perry Highway along with West View officials.

“The folks who call West View home want to see their community thrive and that means shoring up the area’s infrastructure, Downtown area, and public safety systems to make them the best they can be,” Deluzio said.

Mayor J.R. Henry added: “Our Downtown Revitalization Plan is underway, and this [funding] is certainly going to be the catalyst to keep it going."
