High School Junior Creates Artwork for North Hills Holiday Cards
The student works were adjudicated first locally and then nationally by panels of judges comprised of renowned artists, authors, educators and arts professionals.

Artwork created by a student is featured on the North Hills School District’s 2011 holiday card.
Titled “Hot Chocolate Splash,” the series of photographs created by junior April Klein depicts a marshmallow dropping into a cup of hot chocolate.
Klein’s artwork earned a National Gold Medal Award from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards in March 2011 – during her sophomore year. The competition is the country’s oldest and most prestigious awards and recognition program for creative teenagers.

Klein was one of only 18 students in Pennsylvania to earn a gold medal and among the state’s 62 students earning national recognition in the 2011 competition.
