High Winds Wallop North Hills

The winds knocked down signs, trees, and even a tent.

Thunderstorms packing high winds pummeled Ross and West View Wednesday evening, putting an exclamation point on a day of wet and wild weather in the Pittsburgh region.

The North Hills area was spared the worst of the flooding that swamped areas to the south earlier in the day, but it was a different story Wednesday evening.

Within minutes of the storms moving through around 6 p.m., hundreds of residents were left without electricity. Several busy intersections, including the three-way junction of Sewickley-Oakmont Road, Perry Highway, and Three Degree Road were without working traffic signals.
