Johnanna Drive Potholes Remain Despite Promise of Repair

Two weeks after Ross Township Solicitor Bonnie Brimmeier told Ross Commissioners that the three entities responsible for maintaining Johnanna Drive are promising to repair the entrance to the road at the intersection with McKnight Road, several large potholes remain.

Brimmeier admits there is little more the township can do because the road is privately owned.

"There's three parties up there, the Woodhawk Club, the E-Z storage, and the Ivy Woods, which is the homeowners association for the condos that are up there," she said.

"Their attorney told me the owner of Woodhawk was intending to make the repairs and then seek contributions from the other parties that are responsible and I suggested that they do it as quickly as possible."

The issue came to light when a Woodhawk club resident,that the entrance to Johnanna Drive acts like a speed bump. (See video and Click "view larger map" for exact location) 

"Because of the poor road conditions, drivers slow down to a nearly complete stop when entering from McKnight Road," she said. "This greatly increases the chances of rear-end collisions because the cars behind you are still traveling at nearly 40 miles an hour."

In addition to its poor condition, Brimmeier said the road also may lack the proper permits from the state.

"Ross Police Chief Robert Bellan informed me that in their investigation that they found that apparently there was never a highway occupancy permit obtained for that intersection so I will include that in my correspondence and tell them they need to pursue that and get it straightened out," she said.

"That's not our responsibility, it's PennDOT's issue first. We can certainly bring it to their attention."
