June 23 Chosen as New Start Date for McKnight Road Work
Only overnight closures are scheduled this week, Tuesday, June 14 through Friday nights, June 17, on McKnight Road from Babcock Boulevard to Perrymont Road.

Construction work originally scheduled to begin last week on 4.6 miles of McKnight Road between Babcock Boulevard and Perrymont Road has been delayed again - to June 23, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation officials said.
Only overnight closures are scheduled this week, Tuesday, June 14 through Friday nights, June 17, on McKnight Road from Babcock Boulevard to Perrymont Road according to the follow timeframes:

o Northbound (outbound) – 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
o Southbound (inbound) – 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The $8.8 million, 4.6 mile project includes milling and resurfacing, concrete pavement patching, drainage, guide rail, concrete barrier, curb and sidewalk improvements, curb ramp installation, signing and pavement markings, and signal upgrades on McKnight Road between Nelson Run Road and Perrymont Road (Route 4056).
Bridge preservation will also occur on the structure that carries McKnight Road over Babcock Boulevard including latex modified concrete deck surfacing, resetting rocker bearings, pedestrian railing repairs, concrete repairs, and other improvements. Overall work will conclude in fall 2011. The prime contractor is Lindy Paving, Inc. of New Castle, PA.
