McCandless to Break Ground on New Fire Station Just North of Ross

The new $2.1 million fire station will feature amenities like a classroom with modern audio-visual equipment, indoor space for ladder and ropes practical training, and a firefighter fitness center.

The Ingomar Volunteer Fire Company will kick off construction of a new 7,000-square-foot fire station Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 9695 Harmony Drive in McCandless, just north of Ross Township, off of West Ingomar Road.  

The ceremonial groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 4 p.m. The new station is being built on the same site as the old, which was torn down in August.

The new $2.1 million fire station will feature amenities like a classroom with modern audio-visual equipment, indoor space for ladder and ropes practical training, a firefighter fitness center, and spacious garage bays to accommodate the ever-growing size of fire apparatus.

Participants in the event will include officers of the Ingomar Volunteer Fire Company, the project architect and members of McCandless Town Council.

Chartered in 1927, Ingomar Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 is one of three independent fire departments that provide fire and rescue services for the Town of McCandless, a municipality of sixteen square miles and more than 30,000 residents. It has a volunteer staff of 35 firefighters.
