Woman Dies In Suburban Pittsburgh Crash

A deadly crash involving multiple vehicles occurred in a Pittsburgh-area community on Thursday.

WEST VIEW, PA — At least one person was killed early Thursday in a multi-vehicle crash near the Ross border.

It occurred Thursday morning at round 6 a.m. at the intersection of Highland and Cornell avenues. Three vehicles were involved.

First responders discovered a woman driver of one vehicle dead at the scene. The man in the second vehicle was uninjured.

Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman who was killed as Addalena Maiette, 19, of West View.

According to Allegheny County police, preliminary information shows three vehicles were stopped in the left-hand lane of Highland Avenue. The third vehicle in line attempted to pass the two vehicles ahead by traveling into the oncoming lane of travel. As this was happening, the first vehicle in line attempted to make a left turn onto Cornell Avenue and the two vehicles collided.

Due to the significant nature of the damage to both vehicles, detectives have not been able to definitively determine which vehicle was attempting to pass, and which vehicle was attempting to turn.

A utility pole was sheared in half as a result of the crash and left more than 1,000 people in the area without power, according to Duquesne Light.
