PITTSBURGH, PA — Fast-casual restaurant chain Roots Natural Kitchen is growing in the Pittsburgh market.
The eatery will open a location on McKnight Road in Ross on May 31 and plans another location on Cochran Road in the South Hills, the Pittsburgh Business Times reported. The chain currently has locations in Oakland on the University of Pittsburgh campus and Bloomfield.
Roots Natural Kitchen was founded by a group of University of Virginia graduates in 2015, according to the chain's website. The first location opened in Charlottesville, Virginia. A second followed a second year later on the University of Delaware campus.

The Roots menu features 10 signature bowls and customization options.
Popular bowls include the El Jefe, with with avocado, black beans, cilantro lime dressing, charred corn and adobo chicken; and the Pesto Caesar, which has lime-pickled onions, cherry tomatoes, bulgur wheat and pita chips.
