New Recycling Bins Among Items on Ross Commissioners' Agenda

The committee meeting begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. at the Ross Municipal Center.

The new recycling bins, which go into use this week, are expected to be topic number one when a representative of Waste Management addresses the Ross Township Commissioners during their committee meeting on Monday, June 3 at 6:30 p.m.

At a meeting on May 22, Commissioner David Mikec admitted he got an "earful" from unhappy constituents who don't like the new system. Ross Commissioners voted March 4 to opt into automated recycling collection, where feasible in the township.

The vote on the issue was 8-1 which Board President Grant Montgomery voting no. Waste Management decides which customers will have to use the new bins. "Customers don't have a choice in the matter," said Montgomery. "And that's why I voted no."

Also on the agenda is a request for approval of a site plan for six-pack shop and party room at 3225 Babcock Boulevard. It will replace the former Chalky's Pool Hall and be operated by Hal Koenemund, owner of Hal's Bar and Grille next door.
