North Hills' Empty Bowls Event Raises $1200 for Local Families in Need
Attendees paid $10 for a handmade bowl filled with homemade soup that was served with bread.

The North Hills School District recently presented North Hills Community Outreach's Assistant Executive Director Susan Rohm with a check totaling $1,200 raised during the sixth annual Empty Bowls event at North Hills High School.
Advanced and beginning pottery students in art teacher Jason Hillegas’ classes created more than 200 unique and glazed, soup bowls. High school students in grades 10, 11 and 12 worked during class on the bowls, and students as well as alumni volunteered their time after school to work on the service project. Students enrolled in family and consumer science teacher Michelle Medic’s gourmet and world foods classes prepared a variety of soups and bread and rolls for the event.
